It Is War

Christians must fight a spiritual war in the mind. Humans are born into this fight although we usually want peace.  In other words our natural state is always unrighteous but we need righteousness to live eternally with God. Of course, if righteousness is not the goal of a person then there is no fight. All Christians have the responsibility to demonstrate the victory that Jesus won long ago. In Ephesians chapter six, Paul mentions this war. He tells us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood. This lets us know that the fight is mental and not physical. If we are to succeed in a fight with someone we cannot see, we must have Divine help. The following is a list of powerful weapons that have been given to us for use in the war that takes place in our mind.

Truth__Righteousness__Gospel of peace__Faith__Salvation__Spirit

In order to have a chance in this fight the truth must be fundamental to our daily life. This means our life must be honest, sincere, and open. Also all religious games must be done away with. This will make us very different from other people.

The application of righteousness to our life has a very special meaning in the Scriptures. In 1 Thessalonians 5:8 we discover that righteousness is faith and love combined. What a great clarification of the righteous life. True faith creates a new love in us.

Living a life controlled by the gospel brings great peace to us individually. However, it is very important that we bring peace into the world around us. In this fight the Devil absolutely loves to bring his confusion to every person on earth.

Everything we need for victory in this war can be found through our faith in Jesus Christ.  Without this faith we can never please God. Jesus said that we could move mountains with faith.  Nothing is impossible for God and our faith warms His heart.

There will be many spiritual battles in our mind. In a very real way salvation is a protection for our mind. When we focus on serving Jesus our enemy cannot ignite and control our old nature. The hope of our salvation is Jesus Christ. Our mind is being renewed.

The Spirit continually brings the Word of God into our lives. This means either the Scriptures or Jesus Christ himself. A righteous life always relies on the guiding of the Spirit. This is the wondrous way that we find victory in this war of the mind.
