Thoughts of islands, palm trees and beautiful
beaches are restful. But the truth is that people’s problems travel with them
where ever they go. The only way to find rest in this world requires us to
humbly seek God and allow His new covenant to live in our heart and life. Whether
or not we have changed our life, most people realize this requires us to give
up worldly ways. But we may not understand happiness without worldly things.
God’s word is always true: Don’t worry about anything;
instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all
he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything
we can understand. Phil 4:6-7. We are told plainly that this concept of peace is beyond
our human reasoning. This is true of almost everything in Christianity which
explains our need for a faith that is beyond reason.
Allowing
Jesus to live in our heart and rule our life is the Christians secret. The last
part of Phil 4:7 says: His peace will guard your hearts and minds
as you live in Christ Jesus. In other words we can be “worry free” because
Jesus guards our faithful heart from all evil. All worries come from the things
of this world. Every Christian must learn that we are living two very different
types of life and they don’t mix well.
One great
Christian said: I love God’s law with all
my heart. But there is another power within me that is at war with my
mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. Oh, what
a miserable person I am! Who will free me
from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer
is in Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 7:22-25 (NLT). The freedom from this
world allows us to be happy.
Of course
the people of this earth are having parties and laughing it up. But their coming
torment will be so terrible they refuse to think about it. There are some
people who are asking to enter Hell but sadly many other people will be
surprised when they suddenly find themselves there. These good folks have the
idea that they will go to Heaven simply because they desire it. We become a
servant of God because Jesus is our way to Heaven.
Our Lord
does not want Christians to work and worry until life becomes agonizing. Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are
weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon
you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your
souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
Matt 11:28-30 (NLT). Christians can be very happy.
The Spirit
of God’s new covenant desires to lead our life. But we must make Him welcome.
This is the way that many good things, God wants for us, ever become a reality.
Our faith is the path of God’s realities. Being saved is the most wonderful
thing that can happen to any person. Real freedom is available to those who
accept Jesus as the leader of their life. Be happy, don’t worry is a reality
for new covenant believers.
